Macro photography is very close-up photos. The subject should be the same size on the sensor/negative as it is in real life. To be able to do this correctly, we need to bend the light-rays a lot. So use of specialist Macro lenses, or extension tubes (or a mobile phone!) are needed to get very close, and to show all those fine details. It is not zooming in with a telephoto lens!
